UMTS
Overview of UMTS Planning
Ensuring that the RF coverage is sufficient within the network should start naturally with a good RF network plan. The objective of radio network planning is to provide maximum wireless coverage and capacity at minimal cost. Planning for UMTS differs substantially from previous wireless technologies, in particular GSM.The following course will give a detailed description about the selection of base station locations, the number of sectors to install and where to point the main lobe of each antenna.
Learning Objectives
Upon completing the course, the participant will be able to:
- List the driving forces, requirements and goals of UMTS
- Discuss the features and benefits of HSPA+
- Discuss the features and benefits of HSDPA and HSUPA
- Utilize multiple RF coverage plots to access coverage issues.
- Identify and prioritize coverage issues and suggest corrective actions.
Target Audience
RF Engineering Professionals, Network Planning Team, Network Optimization Teams.
